Hi,

I'm hoping someone here can help me with some bootup
annoyances I'm having with Windows XP Pro since changing
my video card from an ATI Radeon All-in-Wonder 8500 to an
Asus V9520/TD (Nvidia 5200 fx).

I initially uninstalled all the ATI software in
add/remove programs (display driver, control panel,
multimedia, etc.) I then swapped the cards and loaded the
asus/nvidia ware. The display driver loaded, as did the
utilities for display management. The capture driver did
not; that's another problem, though it may be related to
the following (I think) ...

Shortly after bootup (30 seconds or so, according to
event log) I get errors indicating that the system is
still trying to load four ATI drivers/devices: 1. ATI WDM
Specialized PCD Codec service; 2. ATI WDM Specialized MVD
Codec service; 3. The ATI WDM TV Audio Crossbar service;
4. ATI WDM TV Tuner service.

Error syntax is:

"The ATI WDM Specialized PCD Codec service failed to
start due to the following error:
The service cannot be started, either because it is
disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated
with it."

I have run regclean; I have managed to delete everything
owned by ATI in the system32 folder; I have removed the
above services/devices from device manager (they were
listed as "hidden" there)... I have no idea how to stop
my computer from trying to start these services. Help?

In addition, I've noted that *sometimes* I also get a
similar error from the computer trying to start hptpro
and hpt3xx. My motherboard is an asus A7N8X Deluxe; I'm
not running Raid, I have no idea why XP would be looking
to use High Point for anything. I have 2 80G HDs on
serial ATA. I'm familiar with HighPoint because I have
another PC with a Soyo motherboard that uses it ... what
is Raid software doing on this PC? The error syntax is:

"The following boot-start or system-start driver(s)
failed to load:
hptpro."

OK, done, for now. If anyone can't point me in the right
direction, I'm appreciative and listening.
