Sloooooow Installs

IBM Thinkpad G40, Pentium 4, Windows XP sp1. EVERYTHING
installs slowly. How slowly? I waited over 24 hours for
an Office install to cancel! Even non-MS software takes
forever to install. No problems like this on W2K Pro or
Server. Very puzzled. Have defragged disk, tweaked the
OS (manually and with Tweak-XP Pro), no luck. Suggestions
before I have to go back to W2K Pro? Thanks.

Go to Classic Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs. Look for Hotfix 811493
and uninstall it.
