Hello,

I have a NEC Versa S2600, with 1.2GHz Mobile Intel
Pentium III processor (with SpeedStep), and Windows XP
Pro installed. After a little bit of searching around, I
found out that Windows XP already has built-in support
for SpeedStep, but I am missing some of the features of
the Intel Applet: for example, I might want to
_momentarily_ switch to Maximum Performance while I am on
battery power. With the Intel Applet, I could right click
on the System Tray icon and select Maximum Performance,
but as far as I can tell, there doesn't seem to be a way
to do this in WinXP.

Does anyone know of a method?

Thanks for all your help,

Monty

Those stepping controls are now part of the power management selection. Set
your laptop's power scheme to "always on" if you want your processor at full
power.
