windows XP restarting after shut down

I have a problem with my PC, whereby I shutdown my
computer (I am running windows XP home edition), and
approx 4-5 hours later the PC starts back up on it's own
accord? - can someone please advise if this is a software
issue? and how do I rectify this problem?

Go into BIOS and turn off 'wake on LAN'.
