View Full Version : burning - encoding takes a hell of time?

I have a avi file more than 9GB which is a family recording of an event.
I made a svcd with the help of Nero 6 that came bundled with the Sony
duel layer DVD burner. Nero first encodes and that takes hell of time to
do it and then the process of the burning starts which completes
successfully.
When I want to make a second copy of the file Nero starts the same
process again and again.
My question: Is there any method so that when next time I want to burn
the file to make a svcd this encoding process, already done initially,
is taken care of and no time is again wasted? Is there any other program
other than Nero that takes care of this.
Thanks for the guidance?

When you burn a disc, you should get the option to save the project file or
image file. You also get the option to burn the same project again. I have
version 6, I assume your version would have the same options.

I have Nero 7 and know that if you have created one disk you can just choose
to create another and it won't take as long. I also was thinking in my case
it might be easy to just copy disks that have already been created. I'm doing
the same thing you are with a family recording for distribution to many
family members on DVD.

Maybe capturing, encoding and making compression at same time, with a
program like Dr. Divx, will make a smaller AVI file.
