My SR has worked fine until recently. Though there are
plenty of restore points, SR will not function when
instructed to go back to any of them. Please advise

Ken;
What exactly happens?
Does it seem to go OK until after the reboot and then states it could
not be restores?
There may be corrupted data in system Restore.
Turn off/on System Restore to delete corrupted files:
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore.
Click System Restore Settings on left side.
Check "Turn off System Restore", click OK, follow prompts and reboot.
This deletes all Restore Points including corruption.
Then go back and turn on system Restore and create a Restore Point.

Hi, THanks for you reply. What happens is that the SR
starts but the restoration seems to go by very quickly.
The PC reboots to a message saying "Your system could not
be restored to the restore point you have chosen. Pick
another and try again." I have got plenty of retsore
points but no matter which one I pick to "try again" the
same message keeps reappearing. Ideally I want to restore
to before 20th July when I lost a piece of software.

Ken;
Then your problem is most likely corrupted data.
To fix you need to turn off/on system Restore per my last post.
This deletes the corruption, unfortunally the Restore Points are gone
as well.
