I am attempting to download an HP Printer driver for the HP LJ4v. One I get
the the installtation portion of the download I am warned that "The software
you are installiing for this hardware - printers - has not passed Windows
Logo testing to verify its compatability with Windows XP..."

Can anyone tell me if it's safe or even a good idea to continue with the
download of this driver.

Thanks very much.

Yes, just continue. I'm not sure what vendors had to do to get digitally
signed drivers for Windows XP, but many mainstream vendors did not bother to
sign their older drivers or their beta drivers.

In terms of whether or not it will work with Windows XP or whether it is
safe to run on your machine, the warning message means nothing other than
Microsoft does not know whether or not it will work.

Thanks for the advice.

I went ahead and installed the driver; however, it didn't solve my problem.
