View Full Version : Signing out

I use Win Messenger now and again but the problem is that it signs me out
after approx 5 minutes without any warning.

MSN messenger works fine so do other applications.

Why would windows messenger sign me off? It's nothing to do with AV or
firewalls as I've tried uninstalling all of those and the problem remains.
Nothing has changed on my system prior to this happening.

It's getting annoying

Greetings,

Windows Messenger uses an older version of the Messenger protocol which doesn't keep the
connection as active as MSN Messenger does. As such, if you're being connected through any
proxy or something similar (common in enterprise environments), it will disconnect on its
own. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do about it.

I appreciate that, but why would it start doing this for no apparent reason?
There have been no software installs or updates of any kind from when it
worked perfectly to when it started playing up.

Hi,

Well depending on your scenario, perhaps something has changed on the network.

my windows messenger shows the same..
after 5min of inactivity it disconnects.. sometimes between chats or when i
minimize a asession longer then 5mins.

it first shows with the upgrade to a new firmware on my netgear ta612v voip
router.
msn messengers and live ..they all work fine.
with the old firmware (no downgrade option *grrrr*) everything worked fine :(
