MS Announcement of "Critical Flaw" + good and bad hot fixes???

To all,
This popped up as part of the news on my home page, but don't know
which fix they are talking about downloading...(middle of the page)

Also, I still have some confusion as to which hot fixes are good or not
good to install.... I am looking for advice on the following:

811493 - Still a number of folks saying this one is not good
328310 - Looks like it needs an associated fix from the recommended list
(814995)
823980 - Took a few folks several tries to install
821557 - Don't think there is anything on this one
823559 and 817606 - Have seen a few references to these in a couple of
XP forums....

Any suggestions/recommendations are appreciated...

Collecting opinions will give you a general feel of other people's
experiences. It doesn't tell you that a highly touted update won't agree
with *your* unique system. I think your discovery method is good but
would be careful of any conclusions drawn from the consensus.

If considering the installation of a critical update, click the More
Info button at the update site. Does the scenario detailed in the
vulnerability description sound like it applies to your setup? If yes,
make a restore point and install it. If you are *very* concerned about
your system getting hosed by a bad update, take some time to create a
backup image or full system backup too.

Use the same approach with recommended updates. It they provide
something you want/need - prepare first and then go for it.

For what it's worth, I have all of the updates installed and have no
problems.
