I've seen hundreds of posts about ISASS.exe causing system
crashes at start up, but only in other forums. It's
almost as if Microsoft has no idea about the problem.
Just do a search on your favorite search engine for
ISASS.EXE and you'll see what I mean.
Is Micriosoft going to ever come up with a fix for this?
How can I get my PC to start up regularly without worrying
about repeated crashes? This is a new machine with a new
install of Win XP Pro. New everything & all drivers, etc
upgraded. It was running fine until I did something
stupid. I installed the automatically downloaded security
update from Microsoft. What was I thinking?! It
immediately started saying "ISASS.EXE ERROR - A write
operation was attempted to a volume after it was
dismounted". No idea what that even means. The error
messages change slightly as I continue to try to reboot,
but always are about ISASS.EXE. There was an exception to
this, when the system started to boot & then told me
that "This Windows Product is not activated". The next
time it said, "Windows Product Activation - Something is
preventing windows from checking the license for this
product.". I had to re-register the copy of windows XP.
Now it still is giving me all kinds of ISASS.EXE errors &
I can't even get it to boot!
What is the fix for this? And why would updating a
security patch cause it? How can I prevent it from doing
this in the future?
Thaks for your help!
