No. OEM versions of Windows have a unique license
that is permentantly tied to the first computer it is installed
and activated on. Besides, upgrading means the new license
incorpoartes the orignal license used for the upgrade.

Q.==> Can I sell or give away old versions of my software when I acquire an upgrade?

A.==> No. Because the original full version software and the upgrade version software
together are a single software program, you will need to retain the prior version in order
to establish your eligibility for the upgrade license.

Thank you.

But we seem to have some conflicting advice here.

My question had nothing to do with giving away or selling the old versions
of the MS software -- just using it on a new SINGLE computer when the first
one becomes a very expensive doorstop.

An OEM version of Windows is non-transferable to a different computer.

There is another fellow here who is not so sure about that -- if you upgrade
with a commercial upgrade.

You and he ought to talk.

Read your Windows XP OEM EULA:

Start > Run and type: WINVER , and hit enter.

It's all in black and white.
