I have been experiencing a problem with some programs in
XP that run at 99% CPU Usage and prolonged use of these
programs cause the system to freeze.
I have a 2.4 GHZ Pentium 4 processor and 256 MB of DDR
Ram.
The programs I have problems with are as follows:
Hoyle Card Games
TMPEG - this converts avi files to mpegs
Any DVD to VCD program (I've tried more than one)
Picture Shuttle which is a program used for my Fujifilm
digital camera to transfer pictures from the camera to
the computer.
This is becoming increasingly frustrating. I have spoken
to a few people who blithely tell me that some of the
programs are processor intensive. I appreciate that, but
as I've said, prolonged use (in some cases 10 minutes or
more) causes the system to freeze.
I've done a virus check and it's a clean sweep.
When I run Task Manager the high CPU Usage is always
taken up exclusively by whichever of these programs I am
running.
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards,
David.
