I have a copy of XP home but creating ASP.net pages and
using the tutorials requires me to have XP professional.
How do I upgrade from XP home to XP professional without
sarting from scratch and paying a fortune.

You can purchase a Windows XP Upgrade version, turn off your AV program,
then pop the XP Upgrade CD into the drive, select Install.

There is no special upgrade edition specifically for this use,
but you can use the regular XP Upgrade edition. It doesn't say on
the box that you can use it for this, but it works fine.

You are a smart one for sure :-)
Let me clarify the above. I have upgraded from Windows
98 to XP Home. I would prefer not to have to buy what
seems to be the only product out there ie an upgrade from
Windows 9x to XP Professional which would render the XP
upgrade a waste of money. I would prefer to be able to
upgrade from XP Home to XP professional which should in
theory be a small upgrade if not an unlock of
functionality already present. Do you know of such an
upgrade?

As I already said in another message in this thread, there is no
such product. Your cheapest choice is the regular XP Professional
Upgrade.

Thanks very much for the help Ken.
That's annoying. Oh well off to the shops again :-)

You're welcome.

I agree. It would have made sense for Microsoft to offer a less
expensive upgrade from Home to Professional--for perhaps a little
more than the difference in price between the two versions.
