Xp won't shut down

I have just recently upgraded from me to xp. And after a
great deal of problems i have just one minor one left.
Or so i think :) When I try to shutdown the system it
won't shut down it restarts. And thinking i was clever i
even tried hitting the restart button to see if that
would shut it down. At any rate it still won't shut
down i have done all the patching and everthing but still
it is the same. any advice would be greatly appreciated
