I'm no expert on these issues, but a google search produced results
that this is a problematic card to install, and also that other posters
who contacted the OEM's helpline were instructed NOT to use the
drivers supplied with card but download uptodate drivers/patch from site!
Good luck

Simply: my computer freezes up on the start up black Windows screen (with the blue, moving status bar) when I have a PCI video card installed. I only have PCI, no AGP or PCI-X. I have tried it with both the drivers installed and not installed. I have also tried 2 different video cards (Nvidia FX5500 and FX5200). I had a card installed that worked fine when I recently had a clean install of XP but after taking it out to update windows (had to ) I ran into this problem.

The only thing I did to the computer before putting the video card back in was to install a PCI sound card (Sound Blaster Live). The onboard video works just fine. I tried to disable onboard video but my BIOS does not have an option for disabling the onboard video, just adjusting the allocated memory.

I have a Pavilion a1034n with the factory board, Intel chipset 915 GV, if that helps.

Thanks a lot!

Here are a couple of excellent forums that may be of help:

One certain contributing factor to your problem is that you have
not disabled on-board video, start here:

THANKS FOR THE REPLIES - I HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM!!

(I had to run windows in safe mode to access the device manager to disable the onboard video)
