View Full Version : problem w/ changing my desktop background:(

I go to Control Panel, Appearance and Themes, Change the Desktop Background,
and then the Display Properties window pops up, I select Desktop then go to
select a picture from my hard drive except it won't let me select a
background. Any ideas as to what is going on?

Run a scan for malware first then edit the registry.

Edit the registry at the following locations, if applicable.

[HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Pol icies\ActiveDesktop]
and/or
[HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Pol icies\ActiveDesktop]
In the right-hand pane, delete "NoChangingWallPaper" or change the value
to 0.

[HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Pol icies\System]
and/or
[HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Pol icies\System]
In the right-hand pane, delete "Wallpaper" and "WallpaperStyle".
