Hello
I just noticed that it suddenly takes 8 or more minutes from the moment
I power up for my Pentium 4 (2.8GHz) Windows xp pc with 1gb ram to
become operational.

It appears the "service+logon"-phase takes a total of 508 seconds,
during which hard drive utilization is constantly peaking at 100%.
Any idea what might be causing this strange behavior? And yes, I've run
chkdsk repair and I defragment my drives regularly.
