dvd playback problem

Hi, I have win media player 10 and nvidia decoder and new video card. I can
play one older dvd movie on media player but another dvd movie release wont
play. Error wmp cant skip to requested location, web help error C00D116F. I
have power dvd 4 but nothing works on that.
The dvd works in the tv player and all track info and names show up on the
pc but wont play? Thanks for any help, Peter

What version of the nVidia drivers drivers are you using? I had video play
back problems with version 72.72 of the nVidia drivers. I located a "work
aoround" on www.guru3d.com and have since upgraded the drivers to a later
version, which solved the video player back issue.

I have a new agp card with 82.12 included, the newer drivers wont install.
There is a beta that I didnt try yet. but it is just a dvd playback
problem.I didnt try the microsoft direct x patch for wmp. no sound or
picture.

What is the name of your new Nvidia card, model, etc..?
82.12 is the beta driver...81.98 is the latest non buggy offering on the
Nvidia driver download page..http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_81.98.html

Look over this link and follow the instructions and install 81.98 and see if
that solves the

Well my card is the Geforce 6800gs agp that came out last month. 81.98 wont
install doesnt recognise the hardware. I have 83.40 beta from 3dguru.com but
i didnt try it yet also just installed a audigy2 zs sound card downloaded
new driver for that . I also updated dvd drive filmware but that was not the
issue. I guess its an issue with the green driver or hardware exceleration
I am also bumbed that everest home doesnt recognise the gpu of the 6800.

eVGA, etc..? Can you spot it in the lineup, see link below..

I tried another driver 83.40 guru3d installed but and I still have the same
dvd play problem. Power dvd freezes with both dvds. Media player will play
one, error on the other. Card is evga. amd64 3200, a-bit nf8, 400 watt
ultra psu 1 gbcorsair pt3200c2 lighton 812 dvd dual maybe I should try
powerdvd 6 .

Update--- powerdvd trial 6 worked fine . I dont really want to buy it. The
direct x thing for media player said i need digital rights management update
first, will I be able to use mwdia player then??

Did you ever use the checkup utility to verify your decoders compatibility
with MP10..?

If so, did you connect the 4-pin molex power connector to the card..?

The DRM needs to be installed before the hotfix is installed..

I tried the check-up utility and it said that nvidia was compatable but it
didnt work to play the movie in mp 10 . Power dvd 4 was not. Power dvd 6
trial played fine except it was buggy with the reverse control.

Then after I installed the drm and hotfix I had big trouble with my dvd rom
drive locking up on every disk with autrun errors and sonic dla. I need to
fix this. Help .And no change with media player!!

Before I updated mylite on firmware but I did not reinstall sonic DLA record
now etc It was retdetected by windows and still read dvd rs etc.

Now it locks up can you recomend a fix . ie reinstall sonic remove nvidia
pure video etc.

Note :When I put a cd in it just spins and no autorun and freezes. a restore
failed that I tried to do after installing the media player hotfix etc.

Peter,

If the hotfix & DRM updates have caused problems, then just uninstall them
in add remove programs, make sure to check the box to view windows updates..

It would help a great deal, if you could be more specific as to the make and
model for your optical drive (or drives) you have installed, as well as all
the viewing and or burning apps you have installed..? Also, you say you did a
firmware update, where did you get it from..?, on what make and model drive
did you install it on..?, remember, be specific..
It would also help for you to quit answering my questions with a question
and just give me an answer or feedback pertaining to the posed question, if
you please..
It'll help me, to try to help steer you in the right direction..

Ok Jay sorry , I just built my first computer. All I wanted to do is play a
dvd.
Now I am not shure if it was the updates or my dvd software. My drive was
going crazy media player was hanging I paniced and did a restore to before
the media player updates. I didnt think I could remove them . I then
removed dvd player and dvd codec application nothing was working right.
I have a lite-on sohw 812s dvdrw It came with Mydvd ver4 and Power dvd xp
4.0 The filmware was from lite-on. to increase media types
I kept getting autorun.exe freeze when i put in a cd. I removed mydvd and
now the cd works as long as I dont put in a cd-r.
So I have no dvd software installed. I was wondering since i play 3d games
if i should reinstall my video driver and sound driver for eax etc. they
seem to work but I dont know if they restore properly. Is my software to old
or can i go back to media player 9.
I tried power dvd 6 trial which played but was conflicting with media
player. Nvidia codecs didnt work with mp 10 I hope this helps I could get a

Pete,

Yes, you can uninstall MP10 in add remove programs, remember to put a check
mark in the show updates box..

You also mentioned Sonic dla in another post, you need to update or upgrade
to a current version that supports MP10.. Uninstall the sonic app and see if
the cyberlink app works better with the patch, see below..
For burning, (my opinion) I would use Nero or Roxio software..

If you don't want to have to upgrade your DVD combo drives viewing & burning

mp 9, no dice it work once in mp then quit .
nothing in pdvd4 with patch. I guess I would have to usepdvd6 with patch to
get it to work dont know why.Its suposed to work in both mp and pdvd?

Hi Now I got both power dvd 6 trial and mp 9 to work. BUT.. I still have
some autorun issues and black screen on resume from standby.
