Hello,
My computer specifications are as follows:
CPU: Intel Pentium 3 processor - 700 Mhz overclocked to 836 Mhz
Memory: 256 MB 100 Mhz SDRAM
Graphic card: Asus AGP-V3400TNT (Nvdia Riva TNT) with 16MB SGRAM
Graphics Processor overclocked to 115 Mhz from 90 Mhz
Graphics RAM overclocked to 140 Mhz from 110 Mhz
using Riva Tuner V2.0 RC 15.8
Graphics card Driver: Asus AGP-V3400TNT series v31.40H driver for
WINDOWS 2000/XP
OS: Windows XP Home Edition

The problem is that when I used to play video files or VCDs in the computer
with the same configuration in WIN98SE the video was not choppy and had a
decent framerate
But, after I have installed Windows XP Home Edition and WMP 10 the framerate
for videos has dropped to around 5-8 fps
Could somebody provide me with the answers? Thankyou.

Windows XP is much more process intensive than 98. Your specs are very low
for digital video... especially the graphics card at a mere 16mb....
nowadays 256mb is more appropriate. Your RAM speed is slow at 100mhz and
the CPU slow compared to today's units.

Either go back to Windows 98 or upgrade your PC..... To be honest the PC is
not worth upgrading, it's probably easier to purchase or build a whole new
unit. You'd need a new motherboard, new CPU, new RAM, new graphics card....
and possibly new hard drive though you don't tell us what you currently run.
