Is there a way to burn mpeg, wma etc on a regualar cd-r(w), so that it is
playable on a home DVD player?

It is known as a VCD, ("Video compact disk")You must ensure
you have software that can burn such required configuration -
latest versions of following software will accommadate:
Nero/Roxio/Ulead/Pinnacle
You must ensure that that the specific STB or SAL unit will
playback VCD's (If it plays back CD-R/RW and DVD+R
thats DVD "PLUS" R, then VCD's won't be an issue......)

STB = "set top box"
SAL = "StandALone"
