I think their tech support is stroking you. They built
the computer, they installed XP, they put in the product
code. If they put in bootleg software that is not a nice
thing. You might want to give your retailer another
chance to set things right. If not tell microsoft, have
them visit your retailer with the software police.

P.S.
In regard to your second question, they have at least
5679 people in over 456 different rooms develping
software. 1973 are using positive logic, 867 are using
negative logic, 2105 are forward logic thinkers, 723 use
backwards logic, 11 of them have no logic.
Check on the internet for the Chaos Theory or Complexity
Theory. Really quickly it says "If a butterfly flaps
it's wings in China, three days later it will rain in New
York". Or "You can't pick a flower without affecting the
furthest star". It is why rivers meanders back and forth
on their ways to the ocean.
Hope I didn't scare you to much, just watch Starwars and
realize the significance of using the good force.
