movies will only copy to cd how do i copy to dvd?????

i have downloaded a movie every time i want to copy it to disc it will only
let me copy to a cd I want to b able to play it on my home dvd player & tv
how do mi chang the file type if thats what i have to do?????

You need to use dvd authoring software, you cannot just copy it to a dvd.
Look at nero/roxio and then onwards like Ulead products.

Windows Vista, which releases later this year, will have this capability.
