In responding to a Windows update notice, I was advised
that I needed to download Windows XP Service Pack 1a first
before applying the other updates. I tried to download
the Express version first and was unsuccessful with the
message "unable to connect with the server"...after the
download was complete. Teh, I saved it to a CD...and when
loading it, I received the same massage. Then, I saved
the longer version of the Service Pack update for network
installation. I saved this successfully and it loaded
successfully.
At this point, I could not access the AT&T website. After
several unsuccessful attempts, I decided to uninstall the
Service Pack which was done successfully. I was able to
access the AT&T website immediately but was not able to
access my E-Mail from the website cover page...notice that
server not available. Still unable to access from my
desktop Compaq Presario to which the Service Pack was
installed and uninstalled. Tried my laptop on AT&T and
accessed E-Mail with no problem.
Tried restoring the Compaq to an earlier date when E-Mail
access worked. Received message after it processed that
no changes had been made. Can you please advise what may
be going on and how I can fix it. I am to the point where
I do not want to load any further updates from
Microsoft...seems to change something else every time.
Thanks,
