Realtek AC 97 Audio

Can anyone please explain why this audio device installed on my advent pc
which runs xp home does not play the sound when i capture from my sony DCR-HC
42E DV camcorder

With the cam came a programme called Sony Picture Package. When i contacted
them i was told that the wrong audio streaming driver is installed and needs
a diffenet one.

Yet i have an old Del laptop running XP home and the sound is great, (
picture not as good due to very low spec laptop)

I have a Sony DCR-22e camera which runs through a docking station and have
had awfull trouble getting anything to work, but I also found no sound on
capture, though when I did finaly did get a satisfactory full capture and
edit (after throwing away the Sony software and USB cable and got a DV/fire
wire) there was the sound.
I'm still playing with the edit trying three diferent progs, even windows
movie maker did a good job, though DVD players dont like the code. I was very
disapointed with what I thought was poor and restrictive software, didn't
expect it from Sony though I think the camera has been great. Not much hlp to
you though I'm afraid, just my experiances.
