Can someone please tell me if I need to have Direct X installed on my Win XP pc to capture video from my JVC camcorder. My pc will not recognise the camera. I am using a firewire cable. Firewire card shows as being ok.
Thank-you.

Am having same problem with firewire to camcorder connection. It used to
work, about a year since I last did video, but no longer. I have a feeling
something was updated and now my XP Pro does not see the camcorder when I
connect via firewire. Composite connection still works but why have a
digital camcorder and transfer in analog? Help!!
