installshield problem

[SiuHin]

Recently, my workstation start having problem installing and
deinstalling software. The message I've got is "Installshield
(ikernel.exe) cannot be lauched. The soure interface is not supported".
I've browse thru all the net and followed the advise by microsoft but
still no help. Wondering if anyone have an idea of what happen and how
to fix it? or the option left for me is to reinstall windows completely.

Do you have the latest installer installed?
Windows 2000 Service Pack 3; Windows 2000 Service Pack 4; Windows Server
2003; Windows XP; Windows XP Service Pack 1; Windows XP Service Pack 2

Windows Installer 3.1 Redistributable supports Windows 2000 with Service
Pack 3 or later, Windows XP, Windows XP Service Pack 1, Windows XP Service
Pack 2 and Windows Server 2003. Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 contains
Windows Installer 3.1 and therefore can't be installed or upgraded by this
redistributable.

I do have the latest installed installed, which I've download from
Microsoft, and my Windows XP is running the with all the latest
patches.
