While "exploring" i went to MY COMPUTER, then to LOCAL
DRIVR C, and noticed that in addition to xp home, there is
also a separate file for xp office, for which I have no
use. Is there any reason not to delete it?

So you mean to say that you have Office installed but you don't wish to use
it? Well simply uninstall via the Control Panel.

What do you mean by "a separate file"? Do you mean a folder?

XP Office is the suite of applications that contains Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, Outlook, etc. If you don't use these applications,
you can get rid of it, but please don't do so by just deleting
the folder. As always, you should remove applications properly;
go to Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs, and do it from there.
