I have made a large slide show of still pictures with transitions and music.
once I get past about 15minutes worth of play time movie maker slows right
down. ie takes 30 secs to show a highlighted picture and takes 20 secs to
stop after I press stop. Also when I try and save as a WMV it takes about an
hour (literaly) and then says it can't save because, there might not be
enough room (there is plenty) a source file might be missing (They all seem
to be there) etc Any Ideas what I can try. I would love to be able to save
the project to show other. All other programs on the computer seem to be
working fine as usual. Thanks in advance.

Movie maker is best for video rather than slideshows. It has problems with
jpegs and mp3's if you have used these.
You could look at using photostory for this job, free from MS.
