View Full Version : XP won't save settings

February 24th 06, 02:40 AM
I had to reinstall windows. Unfortunately now, none of my folder
settings, my desktop settings, or my startmenu settings will save ever
(even right after I hit the apply button). I've tried going to the
site http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm but when I click on
the link concerning saving user settings, I get a message telling me
the site can't be reached. Can anyone help me set this straight?

Thanks

Mike

Create a new user account and see if this happens here as well. If no,
replace your old account.

Creating a new account only fixed the problem for when I log on and off
of different users. An error message about not finding certain data
and using a proxy set was given to me everytime I used a different user
though. After reboot, none of the saving were saved and logging into a
newly created account (from before I rebooted) took almost 10 minutes.
Is there anything else I can try?
