I have currently been developing a movie on windows movie maker for a friend
who is leaving shortly. I am aware that i need a DVD authoring programme but
i am unaware what programs are avalible to me here in the UK and which are
the best programmes to use for this type of project!!!!!

Your location is not an issue, it's the web. But if you have a burner
then you probably already have burning software, if not..........

The authoring software may be a little different from the basic DVD burning
software. DVD authoring software usually has the capability of building the
menu for selecting "run", chapters, special items and such, as well as the
graphics for the background for the menus and opening page. Usually home
authoring software comes bundled with video editing programs, but you can
probably get them separately. I normally use Adobe Encore (expensive) for
professional style DVDs, but there's a lot of authoring programs for home
use. Nero ShowTime, or Sonic MyDVD are two reasonable authoring programs.
You may be able to buy them and download off the Internet, or as XxEmOxX
suggests, you may find shareware or freeware programs that will do this.
