For video editing, you are better served with an AMD Athlon64 X2.

Since a Pentium D is not a 64 bit processor, you CANNOT use x64. Use XP Pro
or Home.

I'm building a machine for editing HDV video (Premiere Pro 2). Can anyone
tell me if there is a significant benefit to running XP64 as the operating
system for a Pentium D dual core, versus a standard XP? As I gather, it
seems the XP64 is designed more for a Xeon processor, rather than a dual
core processor, even though the dual core is running two 32 bit processors
totalling 64. I already have a copy of Windows XP, but am weighing the
benefits of going 64. Any advice?

Many thanks!
Max.
