Would anybody have any idea why I would have TV reception of some channels on
my cable system in fuzzy black & white while most of the channels come
through in nice sharp color? It seems to be somewhat intermitent, as I was
able to get some of these channels in color, at least once briefly. As I
scroll up through the channels on my computer monitor, I will get to channel
17, which will very briefly appear in color before changing over to fuzzy
black & white. I've tried all of the settings in the TV section, but can't
find anything that will fix it permanently.

Hoping someone out there has some ideas.

If you were describing this problem occurring with
a TV, I would say your signal input is too low.

The same thing might apply to your MC PC, you
might have split your signal too many ways and it's
too low to drive the tuner in the MC PC.

Try taking some stuff off your cable signal path and see
if things improve.

And check all your cables with an ohmmeter for continuity
and or shorts.

This might happen if the TV tuner software has a fine tune problem, combined
with the tuner being just a bit off frequency for the selected channel. The
cable connection may have "holes" at certain channels that also can cause
this problem. Usually the easiest way to see what might be wrong is to
connect a TV to the same cable.

Hi Chuck...Thanks for the response...I have had a TV connected to the same
line for 4-5 years without any similar issue. I also recently bought a brand
new coaxial cable just to make sure that the problem wasn't with the cable.
There seems to be some merrit to the other suggestion I received. That being
that the more the signal gets split up, the weaker it is and it then becomes
a problem within the Media Center software. I say this because I've noticed
that during non-peak periods, I do get a nice sharp color picture on those
same channels. I've emailed my cable provider to see if they can verify
this, but I haven't heard back from them yet...Thanks again, though...Dave
