I'm having a problem with a new install of XP home
edition. I have a brand new WD1200bb drive, I put the CD
in the CDrom and it runs through it's normal install
process. I select the unformatted partition, create it
and it formats it and proceeds to install the files. It
then reboots and comes back up and tries to start the
installation over again asking me which partition I want
to install on. If I select the formated partition, it says
it already contains a OS. I've tried removing the CD after
the initial install but then it says it doesn't detect a
boot disk. I've tried the install, and then after the
reboot selected the formated partition and it did the
install again and rebooted and it seems like a never
ending loop. Am I doing something incorrectly?

Following the initial setup, when the computer reboots you must leave the XP
CD in the drive however make sure you don't press a key at this point when
prompted or the CD will boot. Just let the message that says "press any key
to boot CD...." time out - about 5 seconds - and then setup should continue.
