DSOUND.dll

I have no idea of what happened or why but every time I
boot windows, i recieve this message:
"CRTCClient: msmsgs.exe - Odinal Not Found
The ordinal 3 could not be located in the dynamic link
library DSOUND.dll"
My regular windows sounds work, but I can't play mp3's or
dvd's. Window's Media Player tells me,
"Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there
is a problem with your sound device. There may not be a
sound device installed on your computer, it may be in use
by another program, or it may not be functioning
properly."
It will play a regular downloaded video, but, without the
sound. Please, and thank you.
