Hi,

I have a compaq presario V2311US laptop with a rectangular screen.

The aspect ration is such that when I set it to use the whole thing,

everything is distorted. The setting for this is buried in the advanced

settings of properties. In the Panel settings it has a check box

labeled "scale image to panel size" with that checked the whole

screen is used, but it's distorted. If I uncheck it, nothing is distorted

but I get about an inch of black vertical bands on both sides of the

screen. I hope I have explained this properly.

Is this normal?

Can I use the whole screen without distortion? And if so, can

anybody tell me how to do it?

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

It "distorts" because you are viewing 4.3 meterial in 16.9 aspect?
If so, view meterial as it was intended, if 4.3, leave it like that!
meterial in 16.9 will (should) auto fit the screen.
