My Windows XP computer came with McAfee installed on it. I would prefer
Norton which I just purchased. Should I take McAfee off before installing
Norton or can I leave both of them on. Thanks. It's Norton 2003.

Yes you should not run both AV programs at the same time.

Neither AV is on my recommended list, however, always uninstall the previous
AV application before installing a second one. Although possible in some
instances to get two to behave together, it's generally very bad to have
more than one active scanning and getting the two to behave together can be
very problematic.
