Am I writing to the correct newsgroup?

I don't know if this is the correct newsgroup to write to
about the problems I'm having or not. If it's not please
let me know which group I should write to.
I have been experiencing lots of problems since I've
gotten this new computer which is running WindowsXP. My
screen savers freeze up and they are not downloaded
screensavers from the internet. They are on the Windows
CD. I'm using the scrolling marque mostly. That's just a
minor problem but I don't understand why I'm having so
many problems with this new system other then blaming
this new operating system. I've had to replace my
printers & digital camers because my old ones didn't work
with XP nor does my scanner. They were TWAIN, which does
not work with XP. I have not been able, financialy, to
replace my scanner yet and am not thrilled that I had to
replace my other hardware because they didn't work with
XP. The CD Rom drives on my new computer does not read
the CD's I previously burned on my old system nor does
the CD-RW drive read them. They indicate that the CD has
no free space but neither drive will show the contents.
It just keeps teling me to insert a CD. Can anyone tell
me what might be causing these problems and others that I
haven't even mentioned here? I'm ready to have
Windows '98 installed in here and just forget XP and all
the problems associate with it. Here is some information
on my new system: AMD Atholon XP 2500+, 1.83 GHz, 512 of
RAM, 40 G hard drive with only 4.5 G used. I hope this
will provide enough information that I can get some help
with resolving the problems I have mentioned. Please
advise. If I can get these problems solved I have more to
ask for help with. Thanks for any help anyone is able to
give.

Were the previously written CDs closed properly? If not, you may have to
close the discs in order to read them.

Yes, the CDs can be read on my old system before it
crashed but that's the system they were burned on. They
could also be read on my son's system which is running
Windows ME.

Postings to this newsgroup usually number several hundred per day.

Poorly written posts, whether it be grammar, spelling, sentence and
paragraph structure, or using all-capitals greatly detracts from the
readability your posting.

And with so many posts to choose from it is very easy for the
volunteers who provide the answers on these newsgroups to just ignore
the ones that are hard to read and go on to something else that is
easier to understand.

When I read your original posting I about a dozen lines into it and
realized that this was going to take a lot of work on my part in order
to sort out just what it was you were talking about. And as there
were a couple of other responses already to your message I decided to
move on to something else.

I am quite certain that I am not the only one who did this.
