Maybe this group is not for MSN Messenger but I couldnt find one that was? I
have been using MSN Messenger for ages now, with no problems whatsoever. I am
even Beta testing the new Live Messenger as well and both have been working
until recently. Now I find that I cannot connect to either 7.5 messenger or
the Live Messenger Beta. Everything else is connecting to the internet fine,
except for MSN Messenger all of a sudden and I really do not know what the
hell to do? I have tried all the tests that the Messenger help files suggest
but to no avail. Any help and assistance would be gratefully appreciated and
thank you in advance. Mike, UK.

If you're running XP and windows firewall, try turning it off
temporarily and then see if you can connect.

Hi, Thanks for the advice and funnily enough, a mate of mine just suggested
exactly the same thing but it didnt work. I really don't know what to do now
as MSN Messenger just seems to be dead and inoperable?

Do a quick google and find the port number MSN Messenger uses to connect
to the server, then try a telnet connection. If it connects then it must
be messenger, so try remove/re-install. if telnet fails to connect must
be firewall.
