change background

This is not an XP question, I have Windows 2000.

Can i download some sort of app that will allow me to change the background
on Messenger?

Greetings,

If you stick a GIF into the Messenger folder as lvback.gif, it will appear as the background
in the contact list (assuming that's what you want).
