DOES ANY ONE KNOW HOW I CAN DISBLE OR UN INSTALL WONDOWS MESSENGER
SO THAT I CAN USE THE NEW 7.5 MSN?

PLEASE HELP IF U HAVE ANY IDEA, THIS IS DOING MA HEAD IN! GGRRRR....

Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Add/Remove Windows
Components....uncheck it from the list of programs.

THANKS FOR THIS BUT I HAVE TRIED THE ABOVE PROCESS, WHEN I UNCHECK WINDOWS
MESSENGER AND WHEN I GO BACK TO SEE IF I HAVE GOT RID OF IT, I FIND THAT IT
IS STILL CHECKED ,

I HAVE TRIED THIS 5000 TIMES STILL IT IS NOT DISABLING WONDOWS MESSENGER.
IT SOMEHOW CREEPS BACK! (the devil! )

ANYONE WITH A DIFFERENT SUGGESTION .. PLEASE ADVISE...!

Hi Mel!
Here's what I have, click this link and follow the instructions:

If that doesn't work do an internet search for Messenger Disable it's a
program that removes the messenger program completely from your Windows XP
computer. It was obtained by me from one of these newsgroups, but I don't
think that I saved the thread so I am not sure where to to direct you for
the download, I have a copy of it on my computer, if there is a way to get
it to you let me know.

THANKS NJITGS and Mellwould, I HAVE JUST CLICKED ON THE LINK U GAVE ME BUT
HAD DONE THAT BEFORE control panel/ administrator tools/services/
messenger/disable

i have done the above. but i still cant use msn 7.5 when i sign in it just
hangs on the signing in part of it and freezes there and when i close it it
just diplays an error message, saying this "this programme is not responding"
send error report, which i have sent a million times!
i have also tried to temporarily remove the firewall and the anti-norton to
see if this helps but its no use!

so if any one in this beautiful world has any alternative idea, am ready to
listen!

Have you tried running some utilites prior to attempting to install MSN
Messenger, what about a System File Checker? - Start> Run, type sfc
/scannow, it could be that it is hanging because it didn't properly install
the first time, not necessarily because of Windows Messenger. Try to
uninstall MSN Mess then reinstall it. If Windows Messenger is bugging you
that much the only thing that will completely rid your computer of it is the
Messenger Disable program. As mentioned earlier I have a copy of it
downloaded on my pc and I have used it and it works 100%, I just don't
remember wher I downloaded it from. Perhaps someone else reading this
thread has the link to the download.
