View Full Version : Stops responding

After I have left the computer running awhile, I will
come back and find that the screen saver has frozen. Then
I will jog the mouse and the screen saver goes away and
the windows screen will be there. No matter which program
I try to use next, I will click on it, and the program
title will stay opaque and computer will not respond. At
that point I have to power the computer off. I can't do
control-alt-delete or anything. I tried different screen
savers (including XP), but always the same thing. It
also happens during surfing using Internet Explorer. I
know it's not memory (750 meg), harddrive (75gig), or
speed of chip AthlonXP 1.5, and have new motherboard.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Were you having the problem before you replaced the motherboard? Did you do
a clean install of WinXP after the mb was
changed? What wattage is your Power Supply?

MB, and RAM were already there. It worked fine for about
a week, then this problem. No hardware has been added
since the XP install. My power supply is ATX 300 watts.
