My sony vaio laptop used to take a little while to resume
its normal performance speed at startup. The way to tell
the laptop was ready to be used normally, was to notice
the harddrive light on the computer body stopped blinking.
Now, after the light stops blinking, the computer seems
to still be "thinking", and if I click on "My Computer",
I see the "searching flashlight" for several minutes. I
can't use the computer for some time till it suddently
lets me.
I went to the event viewer and saw a message repeated
many times:
SYSTEM Event
Type: Warning Source: Disk Category: None EventID:
51
Description:
An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk2\D
during a paging operation.

(went there but couldn't find any info)
