I have been having several problems that seem related to
the number of fonts insatlled in my computer. I am using
Windows XP Pro for about 8 months. The firs problem is
the text displayed on the screen sudddenly changes to
letters that do not correspond to what I am typing. If I
close the application and reopen it, the problem
temporarily goes away, but will return, sometimes in 5
minutes and sometimes not for hours. The newer problem
is with Microsoft Picture It/Publishing. I started to
receive a message when I tried to open the program that
there were too many fonts installed and to remove some.
Soon after, the program no longewr worked. I have 2
other programs that recently started to crash and the
tech faqs at their respective sites recommended removing
fonts to under 500. I checked and have over 1100 fonts
installed. I have found information about which fonts
Windows must have installed, but I need to know how to
decide what fonts to remove to decrease to under 500.
Windows doesn't show the fonts itsel, only the name. I
also can not find any information on which of the many
fonts are from what programs. Any information about
identifying and knowing which fonta to remove would be
greatly appreciated.
