process running in background which continually dials up

I have an annoying problem whereby some application which
I suspect is spyware that my son downloaded is continually
trying to dial out....have unchecked anything suspicious
looking in start up but it keeps re-occuring -help!

Get Ad-Aware6 and SpywareBlaster and SpybotSD. Use google to find them.
They're free.
