Please help !!
______________

Been running XP now for 14 months. Most things work well
but each time I have to restart my PC -- e.g. after
installing a new program -- it boots into XP seemingly
okay although this is preceded by a couple of "popping
sounds". When it reaches the " account/s log-on " page
the cursor and a 2nd re-boot works fine ?!!

Cannot find ANY program which works as a back-up tool.
All the in-built facility seems to allow for is moving
information from an old PC -- which I don't possess -- or
allows information to be downloaded to floppy discs
only ?!! Other so-called back-up programs tried without
success are " Acronis TrueImage Deluxe" and " Intant
CD/DVD" by VBO.

Now getting more blue-screen system crahes than ever --
worryingly these are on the increase on boot-up but can
occur any time. Windows Media player V9 slows up my
system -- memory 256MB, speed 797 MHz, Service pack 1
installed -- something chronic so have opted to begin
using Real One Player instead.

Has anyone out there experienced any of the above & can
offer a solution.

P.S. My PC warranty ran out on April 30 2003 so am onmy
own !! T H A N K S !!
