I recently had to completely restore my computer and since the restore I
can't play any streaming video online. I am running Windows XP with WMP 10.
In the media player, I have all the file types checked and it is also checked
to connect to the internet. When I try to play video off of Yahoo I get an
error that says: Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the
specified protocol is not supported. If you typed a URL in the Open URL
dialog box, try using a different transport protocol (for example, "http:" or
"rtsp:" )

And what happens when you try a different protocol?

I'm having the same problem after installing the latest Microsoft security
updates. No other changes were made to the system. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Jeff

The same problem has started happening on my XP 2005 Media Center edition,
but not only in Yahoo. Just started after installing the latest security
updates. Should I reinstall media center 10 or is there another solution?
