How do you get Microsoft to talk to you? I have a copy of
XP home that came with my HP. Maybe 6 months old. I
downloaded SP1 but it wont install because it said my S#
is bad???? I contacted HP, they say no, its good. MS web
site C S send's me back to HP. Any help?
Thanks

As you have an OEM licence, you don't. MS does NOT assist with OEM
installations, that responsibility falls to the OEM supplier, in your case
HP. You will receive no assistance from MS.

Greetings --
If you bought the HP PC new, from a reputable dealer, than HP is
your sole source of support. In fact, they have a patch available on
their site to make their "customized" version of the OS compatible
with Service Pack 1.
However, your post leads me to think that something isn't quite
right.
Are you trying to install Service Pack 1 and getting the
following?
The Product Key Used to Install Windows Is Invalid

More than likely, you'll need to purchase and use a legitimate
full copy of WinXP to perform a repair (a.k.a. in-place upgrade)
installation, using the new CD and Product Key.

Remember, you should also report whomever sold you the computer
and pirated software to your local law enforcement agency.
