I have an LG 50PX4DR tv set with a hard drive that acts like a DVR. The set
has IEEE connection. I am able to connect the set to my PC, but XP does not
recognize the tv or the HD. Is there anyway to connect the TV HD to the PC
via IEEE. I want to burn some of the recorded shows onto DVD.

Look in the manual but the LG probably only has IEEE1394 IN and not OUT.

You'd need to find some other way of connecting... normally composite
cables.

The firewire port is to connect to a DVHS or Digital camcorder to
record from the DVR output.

I'm considering a project to connect a PC or Mac that would emulate the
DVHS and allow recording of the DVR output.

BTW - the TV has a 160GB Seagate SATA drive - would be interesting to
connect it to a PC running XP or Linux to see if the files can be
accessed

Cari, I do know that the IEEE connection is like two ways, like Tom said. You
can send recorded shows to a DVHS or probabaly a camcorder. But I don't have
either. I've search the web for some type of DVHS emulator that will allow
the TV set to recognized the IEEE connection as a DVHS and allows the PC
(WinXP) to record the shows and then I can edit and burn onto DVD. I've found
"CapDVHS", but this programs is really for the DVR set tops. The TV set will
recognized a "generic" IEEE connection. It looks like I need a specific drive
for the LG TV. I've also contact LG support and they were no help, they say
that IEEE was designed to connect to a DVHS. If I can record onto DVHS, why
can't I record directly onto my PC that allows more functionality of the
data. Can anybody point me to a DVHS emulator or a driver for the LG TV set
hard drive.
