Since Quicken people have not seen this problem nor have XP sites mention it
I am not sure where problem exists.
When I look at a split transaction in quicken 6 register the new box blinks
rapidly for 5 to 15 seconds before appearing normal. It appears to be
looking up information. All my other applications run fast and I have XPpro
with a 3.3g CPU with 1GB ram. No other apps running at this time. Could I
possibly have something set incorrect that takes cycle time away from this
program but not others?
Appreciate knowing if anyone else using Quicken 6 sees or don't see this
also.
Thanks
SG

More information.
I would say its a XP problem as I just found that it runs correctly if
rebooted in the safe mode. Have no idea of next troubleshooting step.
Help please.

Looks like your are going to have to use "msconfig" to disable all startup features and then
re-enable them a few at a time until your isolate the one (or two) that are causing the problem.
You may have to do the same with the "services" group. It is tedious, but some thing that does not
start in safe mode is causing the problem. It could be a Windows file, another program file, or
even a Quicken file.

Another Option is to back up your data, uninstall Quicken and then re-install Quicken and restore
your data.

PS. My Quicken 6 does not have this problem on any of 3 XP machines. (I keep backup copies on my
laptop and my wife's machine).

Guess I will have to go the hunt peck in msconfig. Already reinstalled it in
C:/ after uninstalling it from programs file. Still screws up even with new
file of one entry.
Thanks for info that yours is working OK. Now know I'm not chasing ghost.

I am completely baffled now
Facts:
Program works correct in safe mode.
Program has problems in normal boot.
Used MSCONFIG to deselect startup----sys
services----win.ini----sys.individually and all at once and problem remains.
Only hint I have is using task manager I see Explorer.exe using comp time
while the problem is occurring. Cant see why Quicken 6 should call explorer.
