Although XP offers IIs 5.1 it does not offer NNTP. What is the easiest and
quickest way to add NNTP? 3rd party NNTP software, upgrade to Server 2003 or
move to Linux?

Once IIS in Windows XP Professional has been installed,
it provides for basic Web server functionality and includes
the WWW, FTP, NNTP, and SMTP services.

You can install IIS using the following steps:

1. Click Start and select Control Panel.
2. Double click the Add or Remove Programs applet.
3. Select Add/Remove Windows Components.
4. Place a check beside Internet Information Services (IIS).
5. Click Next.

If prompted, insert your Windows XP Professional CD.

Once IIS is installed, your computer running Windows XP Pro will
be able to function as a Web server. However, there are a few things
you should keep in mind. You can expect to see a decrease in performance
since there is an extra load being placed on the computer. Also, Windows XP
Professional is limited to the number of concurrent inbound connections that
it can accept (10). For more connections, you would need to install a
version of Windows Server 2003.
